“AI Home Brain”: Opening up a new era of active sensing in smart homes

在第四届中国国际供应链促进博览会上,英特尔联合国内产业链伙伴发布“AI家庭大脑”解决方案,推动全屋智能从“指令驱动”迈向“主动感知”新阶段,解决了传统智能家居的诸多瓶颈。

Adjusting the color temperature of lights requires switching to a mobile APP operation. It is difficult to set the air conditioner temperature to suit the different needs of the whole family. It is difficult to efficiently organize family photos accumulated for more than ten years. Many people have had this experience: the more smart devices they buy at home, the more they buy, but they can never cross the threshold of true intelligence, and they have to wait for the user to give instructions for everything.

Today, at the 4th China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo, Intel collaborated with domestic industry chain partners to release the “AI Home Brain” solution, which deploys large-scale model computing power directly to the local home, pushing whole-house intelligence from “command-driven” to a new stage of “active sensing.”

According to statistics from industry research institutions, China’s smart home market has grown nearly nine times in the past ten years. Internet-connected appliances and smart hardware have already entered ordinary people’s homes. However, the industry has always been unable to get around some bottlenecks: devices only achieve network linkage and do not have active sensing and decision-making capabilities. Each operation requires users to issue precise instructions; standardized settings are difficult to adapt to the usage habits of different family members such as the elderly and children; a large amount of daily life data is uploaded to the cloud, leaving many users concerned about privacy and security.

The core of the AI Home Brain released by Intel this time is to allow AI computing power to take root locally in the home, rather than relying entirely on cloud computing.
Compared with pure cloud solutions, local computing response has almost no delay, device operation response is more immediate, and interaction is smoother; long-term use costs are more controllable, which can avoid the ongoing expenses caused by a large number of calls to cloud models; more importantly, family photos, living habits, health data and other private information are all calculated locally, realizing a local closed loop of family privacy data from the bottom of the technology, and information does not flow out of the family scene.

Currently, this AI family brain has implemented a number of daily functions: the moment the door is opened after get off work, the system can identify family members through the camera, automatically close the curtains, and turn on the lights with corresponding color temperatures; it will be combined before a business trip
The weather at the destination and the user’s travel habits will proactively remind you of easily missed belongings. If a pet breaks into a dangerous area or an elderly person falls accidentally, visual AI can detect abnormalities immediately and push an early warning. Family photos accumulated over many years can also be automatically filtered and sorted, and highlight short videos can be generated with one click.
There is no need to switch between multiple apps or give instructions repeatedly. The intelligent brain integrates into daily details, truly “not feeling the presence, but being everywhere”.

As a computing power base provider, Intel does not build terminal products alone, but uses an open ecological model to collaborate with partners across the entire industry chain to implement them.
From home appliance manufacturers and smart hardware companies to AI model companies and system integrators, dozens of domestic industry chain companies are participating in ecological co-construction.
Intel provides full-stack technical services from hardware adaptation and system compatibility to large model tuning and AI framework support, allowing partners to quickly develop differentiated products and applications based on this computing power base – whether it is home NAS (network-attached storage), whole-house smart central control hosts, or TVs and refrigerators with integrated AI capabilities, they can all be connected to this home brain system to achieve capability upgrades.

Guo Wei, vice president of Intel Marketing Group and general manager of China, said that the next round of smart home upgrades will focus on moving from “single product connection” to “whole-house active intelligence”, and local AI computing power is the key base to support this upgrade.
Intel’s model of combining computing power technology with the industrial chain to build an ecosystem not only leverages the technological advantages of chip companies, but also fully mobilizes the scenario innovation capabilities of terminal manufacturers, allowing AI technology to truly sink from concept to people’s livelihood scenarios.
With the addition of more ecological partners, the AI home brain will also extend more life-oriented applications in the future, allowing technology to quietly serve daily life and add more warmth to the family.
