Data released by Ningbo Customs show that from January to May this year, Ningbo’s total import and export volume was 628.61 billion yuan, an increase of 5.4% over the same period last year (the same below), and foreign trade is operating in good condition.
Among them, exports were 425.78 billion yuan, an increase of 5%, and imports were 202.83 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%.
In May, import and export reached 126.85 billion yuan, an increase of 1.9%.
“Our company’s export scale has increased steadily, benefiting from the dual empowerment of continuous intelligent manufacturing upgrades and a good port business environment.” Yang Zhenfei, finance officer of Ningbo Hongyue Metal Products Co., Ltd. said.
As Ningbo’s leading professional home hardware export company, Ningbo Hongyue exported 61.83 million yuan from January to May this year, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%. The company’s performance demonstrates the strong momentum of Ningbo’s foreign trade.
Traditional markets and emerging markets are driven by two wheels, and the “circle of friends” for economic and trade cooperation continues to expand.
The EU and ASEAN firmly rank as Ningbo’s top two markets.
From January to May, imports and exports to the EU were 108.98 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6%; imports and exports to ASEAN were 96.1 billion yuan, an increase of 12.3%. The two together accounted for 32.6% of Ningbo’s total imports and exports.
During the same period, the benefits of the zero-tariff initiative for Africa were gradually released, with import and export volume to Africa exceeding 40 billion yuan, an increase of 14.4%.
In addition, relying on the cooperation opportunities of the “Belt and Road” initiative, imports and exports to the “Belt and Road” countries were 311.62 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%, accounting for nearly half.
Recently, Ningbo Global Radio and Television Technology Co., Ltd. imported a batch of integrated circuits worth 7.2 million yuan from Singapore from Singapore and successfully completed customs clearance procedures at Ningbo Customs.
“Malaysia is an important semiconductor packaging and testing base in the world. Relying on mature industrial clusters, the integrated circuits produced are highly stable and cost-effective.” said Zhang Lili, head of corporate business. “The company mainly engages in the import and export of optical modules, CATV signal amplifiers and other products. From January to May this year, the turnover reached 2.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 76.7%.”
The “intellectual content” and “green content” of exported goods have been improved, jointly promoting the high-quality development of exports.
From January to May this year, Ningbo exported 246.96 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 4.1%, accounting for 58% of Ningbo’s total exports. Among them, motorcycles produced in Ningbo were sold overseas, with an export value of 1.49 billion yuan, an increase of 92.4%.
During the same period, the exports of the “three new” products were 28.51 billion yuan, an increase of 138.4%, maintaining a strong growth momentum. Among them, the exports of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products were 18.11 billion yuan, 5.95 billion yuan, and 4.44 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 215.9%, 57.9%, and 81.1% respectively.
In general, Ningbo’s foreign trade showed a good development trend from January to May 2026. Whether it is the stable growth of traditional markets, the development of emerging markets, and the optimization and upgrading of the export commodity structure, it has laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Ningbo’s foreign trade.
