Intel releases AI home brain, whole-house smart ecosystem, cross-brand linkage to solve industry segmentation pain points

At the 4th China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo, Intel officially released the AI Home Brain brand-new intelligent whole-house smart home ecological solution. Haier, Hisense, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Tencent, Midea and many other industry leading companies gathered at the scene to participate in ecological co-construction, marking that the smart home industry has officially entered a new stage of inclusive development from single-brand ecological competition to cross-brand collaboration.

The biggest user pain point in the current smart home market is the fragmentation of brand ecology: air conditioners, refrigerators, TVs, smart door locks and other equipment often belong to different manufacturers, and the device protocols are incompatible with each other. Users need to download multiple APPs to control them separately, and devices of different brands cannot achieve linkage and collaboration. Not only is the operation cumbersome, but it is also difficult to truly achieve a “whole-house intelligence” experience.
Intel AI Home Brain is essentially an AI computing power center deployed locally in the home. It relies on the heterogeneous computing power of NPU, GPU, and CPU of the Core Ultra series processors to break the protocol barriers between different brands and different smart devices. It relies on AI agents to uniformly schedule the whole house hardware, allowing all home appliances and smart devices to achieve cross-brand collaborative operation.

Intel AI Home Brain Ecosystem Release Scenario

Compared with traditional whole-house smart solutions, AI Home Brain has achieved an essential upgrade in the experience dimension: In the past, whole-house intelligence was essentially just a collection of remote controls for multiple devices, requiring users to actively issue instructions to perform operations. However, AI Home Brain has evolved from “people actively controlling devices” to a new model in which “AI actively understands user needs and autonomously schedules whole-house devices.”
To give an example of a life-oriented scenario: In the traditional mode, when users return home, they need to manually issue multiple voice commands to “turn on the air conditioner, adjust the temperature to 26 degrees, close the curtains, and turn on the warm lights.” In homes equipped with an AI home brain, the system recognizes that after the user returns home, it will automatically adjust the appropriate temperature, lighting, and curtains based on daily usage habits, and simultaneously play frequently listened to background music, creating a one-stop comfortable home scene.
In addition, this solution can also realize more proactive services: the refrigerator can identify the shelf life of food ingredients and proactively remind them, the washing machine can automatically match the washing mode based on the weight and fabric of the clothes, real-time warnings of home security anomalies, and the elderly’s fall monitoring and protection, etc., covering all aspects of life.

AI Home Brain Home Application Scenario Demonstration

As a leading company in the global computing power field, Intel previously had an absolute advantage in the high-end computing power market for PCs and servers. However, in the field of smart home edge chips, its market share has long lagged behind Qualcomm and MediaTek.
The core of this launch of AI Home Brain is to use its own processor as the computing power base of local AI in the home, and move large-model AI inference from the cloud to run locally in the home, bringing three core advantages: First, the response speed is faster, local computing power performs real-time calculations, gets rid of network delays, and device instructions are executed instantly.
Second, the privacy and security are higher. Family life, health, imaging and other data are all processed locally in a closed loop without uploading to the cloud, avoiding the risk of privacy leakage from the source. Third, it can be used normally even if the Internet is disconnected. Even if the home broadband is temporarily interrupted, the whole house intelligent linkage and AI assistant can still run stably.

The cooperation of many leading home appliance and Internet companies on the same stage also means that the ecological standard competition stage of the smart home industry has come to an end, and the focus of industry development has shifted to large-scale market implementation.
Major manufacturers choose to be open and compatible, and work together to build an AI home hub ecosystem. Through cross-brand interconnection, they can lower the threshold for users to use whole-home intelligence, and work together to expand the overall scale of the smart home market. Cooperation is far greater than competition on a single track.
Industry insiders say that if AI home brains are implemented on a large scale, scattered smart hardware will be upgraded into integrated smart living spaces, completely changing the traditional smart home usage model.
However, at this stage, the solution is still in the early stages of ecological construction and hardware adaptation, and it will still take a long time to fully enter ordinary families.
Whether large-scale popularization can be achieved in the future depends on Intel’s compatibility and adaptability to a large number of home appliance brands and diverse device protocols, as well as the speed of popularization and implementation of terminal hardware.
