Linglong Tire: Driving New Development of the Global Tire Industry Through Innovation

Shandong Linglong Tire has evolved from a local enterprise into a global leader in the tire industry. Through initiatives spanning technological innovation, global expansion, and green development, the company has positioned itself at the forefront of the wave of new energy and intelligent technologies, actively addressing industry challenges and writing a legendary story of globalization for Chinese tire enterprises.

Tires, the “foundation” of automobiles. From a local enterprise in Zhaoyuan, Shandong, to an industry leader with a global “7 + 5” (7 domestic bases and 5 overseas bases) layout, consistently ranking among the world’s top 20 tire manufacturers, Shandong Linglong Tire has written a global legend for Chinese tire companies through 30 years of dedicated cultivation and breakthroughs.

Global Network, Multi-Point Layout Constructs a Market Map of Over 100 Million Sets

From German automakers such as Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW, to leading domestic and foreign automakers such as GM, BYD, and Geely, and to commercial vehicle giants such as FAW Jiefang and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Linglong provides supporting products to more than 200 production bases of over 60 OEMs worldwide, achieving comprehensive coverage of key global vehicle series from China, Germany, Europe, America, and Japan. Especially in the new energy vehicle sector, it has maintained its leading position in China for five consecutive years from 2020 to 2024. This “global network” strategic layout helped Linglong become the world’s sixth largest tire manufacturer in 2024 with a global market share of 4.4%.

At Linglong Tire’s headquarters in Zhaoyuan, modern factories and intelligent production lines complement each other, a scene being simultaneously replicated at its domestic bases in Dezhou, Jingzhou, Liuzhou, and Changchun, as well as its factory in Thailand and its under-construction base in Serbia. By the end of 2024, Linglong Tire had established five production bases in China and two overseas, with a total production capacity exceeding 100 million sets. Its products, including “LINGLONG,” “LEAO,” “CROSSWIND,” “ATLAS,” “GREENMAX,” and “EVOLUXX,” are exported to 173 countries and regions. Breaking Technological Barriers: From “Following and Imitation” to “Defining Standards” The “TIH Laboratory,” jointly built by Linglong Tire and Geely Automobile, is a microcosm of technological innovation. Here, there is no “trial and error” in traditional tire development; instead, F-Tire virtual modeling software and digital calibration technology are used. Through virtual development, the Geely Galaxy L6 model was successfully created. The SPORTMASTERe tire, slated for mass production in 2025, is particularly noteworthy. Designed specifically for new energy vehicles, this product boasts an “all-around excellent performance”—a low rolling resistance compound (reducing energy consumption by 23%), a 0.33-meter shorter wet braking distance compared to competitors, and a 3.2-decibel reduction in noise—earning it the highest “AAA” rating in the EU tire labeling system. Behind these impressive figures lies Linglong’s increasing investment in testing year after year (R&D investment accounted for 4.2% of total tire production in 2024, leading the industry). Currently, Linglong Tire possesses a nationally recognized enterprise technology center and a nationally accredited laboratory. It has participated in the formulation and revision of 112 national and industry standards, undertaken more than 10 national-level innovation projects, and has accumulated 930 authorized patents. It has successfully developed dandelion rubber tires, graphene-reinforced tread tires, and 3D-printed polyurethane tires, leading the transformation of the domestic industry.

Deep Market Cultivation: From “Supporter” to “Ecosystem Co-construction”

“Having supplied nearly 300 million tires to more than 60 OEMs worldwide,” behind these figures lies Linglong’s transformation from a “single supplier” to a “strategic partner.” From German giants like Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW, to leading domestic brands like BYD and Hongqi, and even the world’s largest horsepower new energy tractor—the Lingong Agricultural Machinery 9E series—Linglong’s product matrix covers the entire passenger, commercial, and construction machinery sectors, forming three pillars: “passenger and light truck tires, truck and bus radial tires, and off-road tires.”

On the retail side, Linglong is reconstructing consumption scenarios with “new retail.”

Atlas Auto Service Stations offer professional maintenance for new energy vehicle owners through their “tire + chassis” specialty service; Truck Driver Home, relying on its 3.0 digital intelligent SaaS system, has created an efficient network of “online ordering + offline service” for logistics drivers, covering 123 cities and serving over 410,000 registered users as of June 2025. The strategic cooperation with JD Auto has further explored a new path of user-demand-oriented, integrated online and offline development. Green Transformation: From “Compliance” to “Industry Leadership” Under the “dual carbon” goal, Linglong is embedding “green” into every link of its industrial chain. In the production workshop, the Future concept tire, with 79% sustainable materials, includes dandelion rubber, rice husk ash, carbon black, and polyester cord made from recycled plastics, making the tire a “recyclable and environmentally friendly product” while achieving EU “AAA” performance. In 2024, Linglong’s cumulative photovoltaic power generation reached 91.6877 million kWh, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 49,000 tons; projects such as secondary steam recovery and utilization, and energy-saving renovation of superheated water pumps further reduced carbon emissions by 8,000 tons annually. In the field of waste tire processing, its pyrolysis technology, developed in cooperation with environmental protection companies, can convert old tires into renewable resources such as oil and carbon black, truly achieving a closed loop “from tire to tire”. Moving Forward with Resilience to Meet Challenges, Opening Up the Future with Innovation Currently, the global tire industry is facing multiple challenges, including increased trade barriers and fluctuating raw material prices. The US’s tariff increases and the EU’s upgraded technical barriers are forcing companies to accelerate their globalization efforts—Linglong’s Thailand base circumvents Southeast Asian tariff barriers, while its Serbian base directly targets the European market. Faced with fluctuations in natural rubber prices, it controls cost fluctuations within a reasonable range through centralized procurement and long-term agreements. From biomimetic 3D-printed non-pneumatic tires to triboelectric nano-powered green smart tires, Linglong’s innovation list continues to grow. This company, which has won the “Lingxuan Award” for five consecutive years, is aiming to “build a world-class tire brand” and is writing a new chapter for Chinese brands amidst global industrial transformation.
