Macau media visited Hengqin to witness the new vitality of industrial development

On March 26, the "Macao Media Visit to Hengqin" event took place, during which representatives from Macao media outlets toured various projects in Hengqin to learn about the achievements in industrial development within the cooperation zone and experience the vitality of the integration between Hengqin and Macao.

On March 26, the “Macao Media Tour to Hengqin” jointly organized by the Administrative Affairs Bureau of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, the Information Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and the Publicity Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao was successfully held.
Media representatives from Macao visited Hengqin and visited a number of projects, gaining an in-depth understanding of the latest achievements in industrial development in the cooperation zone and feeling the vitality of the integrated development of Hengqin and Macao.

Real scene of the Hengqin project

The first stop of the day, the media group came to Hengqin International Film and Television City.
This project is the cooperation zone’s full integration of the resource advantages of “Macao’s characteristic scenes + Hengqin’s industrial ecology” and taking the opportunity of the launch of “Chinese Online” to build the country’s first micro-short drama shooting base focused on serving overseas markets.
Liming, deputy general manager of Chinese Online (Guangdong Hengqin) International Film and Television Industry Development Co., Ltd., led everyone to visit the castle, church, police station, banquet hall and other scenes in the film and television city.
He introduced that Hengqin International Film and Television City plans to build nearly a hundred real-life shooting scenes for high-quality short dramas, covering diverse themes such as American hospitals, passenger cabins, and courts. It has currently undertaken film and television drama projects such as “Bright City”, “He Will Return Before Dawn” and “Restraint to Heat Up”, attracting well-known actors from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China such as Zhang Zhilin, Wu Zhuoxi, Gao Haining, Jiang Dawei and Bi Wenjun to come to shoot.
“We are currently able to satisfy 80% of the crew –
90% or even all scene needs.” Liming said that in the future, he will accelerate the construction of a full-chain system covering equipment rental, service facilities, artist management, catering and accommodation, content creation, post-production, overseas distribution, etc. “Relying on Hengqin’s policy support and resource advantages, we will promote
More excellent film and television works will go overseas, attracting more overseas crews to create here.” Next, Hengqin International Film and Television City will hold an international micro-short drama festival in the cooperation zone in a “one festival, two events” model to further enhance Qinao’s influence and competitiveness in the global micro-short drama industry.

Subsequently, the media delegation arrived at the China-Portugal Economic and Trade Center to learn about the development history and functional positioning of the centre.
Wu Yanxiang, deputy director of the Legal Affairs Bureau of the Cooperation Zone and vice-chairman of the Council of the China-Portuguese Economic and Trade Center, introduced that the China-Portuguese Economic and Trade Center plays the role of Macao as a “precise liaison” to Portuguese-speaking (Spanish-speaking) countries. Relying on the advantages of “Macao + Hengqin”, it widely gathers various resources such as governments, industrial enterprises, and professional service institutions from China and Portuguese-speaking (Spanish-speaking) countries to build a “one-stop” comprehensive service platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking (Spanish-speaking) countries.
The center supports the first phase of the China-Portuguese-Chinese-Western Economic and Trade Industry Development Investment Fund of RMB 1 billion and adopts an “online + offline” combination approach to provide relevant market entities with precise and efficient services.
“So far, the center has established contacts with more than 200 companies and has signed service agreements or framework cooperation agreements with more than 80 of them. It not only helps mainland companies sell products to Portuguese-speaking (Spanish-speaking) countries, but also assists overseas companies to settle in Hengqin. In the future, it is expected to build the center into a national-level economic and trade service platform to help more companies enter the vast international market through Hengqin.” Wu Yanxiang said.

Media representatives also visited the Hengqin International Digital Intelligence Talent Training Base jointly built by the China-Portuguese Economic and Trade Center, Huawei and Beijing Wenhua Online. They learned that the base focuses on digital trade, cross-border e-commerce and other fields, and strives to cultivate international compound talents to provide intellectual support for the industrial development of the cooperation zone.

The last stop of the media group came to the Hengqin Cross-border E-commerce (Huafa) Innovation Industrial Park. As a key project of the cooperation zone, the industrial park has a total above-ground construction area of 503,000 square meters. It is a benchmark for cross-border e-commerce industrial parks with leading scale, high standards, complete supporting facilities and strong competitiveness in the country.
The robotic arm automatically scans products for 3D modeling, and AI can quickly generate high-quality product display videos. At the global product selection center of the industrial park, media representatives deeply felt the innovative application of AI technology.
Some live broadcast rooms are now being broadcast. Trendy toys produced in Guangdong, agricultural products from Zunyi, Guizhou, red wine from Portuguese-speaking countries, bird’s nests from Southeast Asia, and Macao’s time-honored traditional Chinese medicine products are being shown to the whole country and even the world through the lens.
Pang Kaize, representative of Australian-funded enterprises settled in the park and head of e-commerce operations at Zhiao Culture, said that the industrial park has provided practical support in terms of financial subsidies, professional training and policy interpretation to help companies develop online businesses and expand the Greater Bay Area and national markets. In the future, it will further explore overseas markets with the help of the industrial park.

Lin Yanjie, director of the Culture, Tourism, Exhibition and Trade Department of the Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau, said that the cooperation zone has actively carried out investment promotion around the entire cross-border e-commerce industry chain, and has promoted the establishment of more than 200 e-commerce companies. It focuses on promoting the two parks of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone Cross-border E-commerce (Huafa) Innovation Industrial Park and the Qin’ao Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park (Innovation Square). At the same time, two industrial clusters have grown, namely the Hengqin International Business Center (ICC) and the Sany South Headquarters Building.
The operational area exceeds one million square meters, and an industrial agglomeration effect has been initially formed.
He further introduced that based on in-depth research and response to the actual needs of enterprises, the cooperation zone will continue to launch iteratively updated cross-border e-commerce policies.
At the same time, the cooperation zone is also strengthening regular cooperation with the Macau Cross-Border E-Commerce Industry Association, the Macau Live Broadcasting Association, etc., hoping to attract more Macau enterprises to settle in Hengqin.

The one-day visit allowed Macao media representatives to have an in-depth understanding of Hengqin’s innovative practices and development potential in the fields of film and television culture, China-Portuguese economy and trade, and cross-border e-commerce. It not only enhanced the Macao media’s understanding of the achievements of the cooperation zone, but also created a good atmosphere for further deepening exchanges and cooperation between Hengqin and Macao.
