New tire products in the first quarter of 2026: technological breakthrough, defining industry acceleration

2026年一季度轮胎行业新品密集发布,米其林、通用股份、山东华盛橡胶集团等企业推出标杆新品,从不同维度勾勒新技术图景,行业竞争逻辑正深刻转变。

The intensive release of new products in the tire industry in the first quarter of 2026 is essentially a strategic proactive battle for enterprises under the interweaving of multiple variables.
Fluctuating raw material prices, continuous iterations of new energy vehicle technology, and accelerated differentiation of consumer demand—in a complex external environment, “opening up new growth with new products” has become the core response strategy of most brands.
This quarter, three benchmark new products, represented by Michelin Haoyue 5E/Jingchi 5E, Huasheng memory rubber tires and Super Eucommia tires, outline the new technology landscape of the tire industry from the three dimensions of energy-saving formula, smart materials and independent material innovation respectively.

1. Michelin: New energy answer sheet of dual tread technology

At the 2026 Tuhu car maintenance spring conference, Michelin brought Haoyue 5E and Jingchi 5E. Both models have “energy saving” as the core upgrade direction, but their positioning has different focuses.
Relying on the fifth-generation asymmetric pattern and equalizing pressure technology, the Jingchi 5E can travel 38 kilometers more on a single charge than the previous generation, and 18 kilometers more on a single refueling.
Haoyue 5E focuses more on long-term safety – certified by authoritative organizations, its wetland braking distance is still an average of 6 meters shorter than competing products after driving 50,000 kilometers.

Michelin launches two new energy tires at the same time, which is a refined market strategy: the Mercedes-Benz 5E continues the sports gene and is specially designed for drivers who pursue control feedback; the Haoyue 5E puts endurance and comfort first and is suitable for families or urban commuting.
From the perspective of supporting equipment, Haoyue 5E has been selected by more than 20 mainstream automobile brands around the world before its launch, and will be used in more than 50 new models under development, indicating that its new product layout has been deeply embedded in the R&D chain of OEMs.

2. Super Eucommia Tire: Breaking through the “Plant Gold” Independent Material Revolution

GM’s Super Eucommia Tire can be called the most local technological breakthrough this quarter.
On March 15, General Motors released this strategic new product in Chengdu, which has taken more than ten years of research.
The core material Eucommia gum is known as “Chinese plant gold” and has excellent anti-fatigue, anti-aging, low heat generation and high wear resistance properties.
In 2018, General Motors became the first company in the industry to overcome the industrial application problem of Eucommia gum, and it will be officially used in passenger car tires in 2024.
This breakthrough opens up a completely independent and controllable material route and builds a full chain system of “materials-formula-process-products”.

In terms of performance, the wear resistance of Super Eucommia tires is increased by more than 30%, and the life of the front wheel of a passenger tire exceeds 80,000 kilometers; wet braking meets the EU’s highest Class A standard; superimposed with CeliSeal self-repair and CeliMute silent cotton technology, it can achieve instant self-healing of nails within 5mm and reduce noise by 9dB. It is “super wear-resistant, super safe, and super comfortable” to meet the needs of new energy vehicles for high load-bearing, comfort and no spare tire scenarios.
GM has built a product matrix based on this: CHP8 for urban SUVs, GA8 for new energy driving, and C-SPORT 01 specially built for BMW X7, Land Rover Range Rover, etc. In 2026, it will continue to expand the specifications of GA8 and promote the production of the UHP series, showing that the potential of the technical route is being systematically released.

3. Huasheng Memory Rubber: Differentiated Exploration of “Memory Rebound”

Another new product direction worthy of attention this quarter comes from Shandong Huasheng Rubber Group.
On March 17, Huasheng officially released two blockbuster new products at the Guangrao International Convention and Exhibition Center with the theme of “Memory Rubber·Seeing the Future” – Comperson K799 and Habeide H966-33.

Unlike most brands that “roll parameters” in traditional performance indicators, Huasheng has taken a different approach and tried to build differentiation barriers with the new dimension of material science.
The new product is equipped with PSDS core technology independently developed by Huasheng. Through the micro-phase separation design of soft and hard segments, the tire compound has a unique “intelligent memory rebound” characteristic – it can adaptively adjust the tread shape according to road conditions and temperature changes, maintaining grip and stability during bumpy driving.
This means that the tire is no longer a passive rubber structure, but has a certain degree of active adaptability.

Trend Observation: Technical differentiation during the proficiency testing period

Looking back at the first quarter of 2026, the competitive logic of the tire industry is undergoing profound changes.
Industry analysis points out that scale expansion is no longer the core variable that determines competitiveness, and capability structure is becoming a new watershed.
The continued penetration of new energy vehicles has put forward systematic requirements for the rolling resistance, noise control, and thermal management capabilities of tires. Tires are evolving from “universal components” to “system collaborative components.”

In this context, whether it is the energy-saving orientation of Michelin’s dual-tread technology, the intelligent adaptation of Huasheng memory rubber, or the material breakthrough of Super Eucommia tires, they are all responding to the same question: how to meet increasingly complex and differentiated user needs through breakthroughs in underlying technology.
I believe that in this long-term battle over technology and capabilities, the stage left for practical innovators is far greater than imagined.
