The rise of the top three domestic tire companies leads new changes in the global tire industry

Amid the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, three major domestic tire brands—Zhongce, General Science Technology, and Sailun—have risen to prominence through paths of differentiated innovation. By breaking the monopoly held by international brands and driving the Chinese tire industry’s transition from merely keeping pace in terms of scale to leading in technology, they are accelerating a reshaping of the global industry landscape.

Under the wave of high-quality development of the new energy automobile industry, tires are the core ground-bearing components. The iteration speed of its underlying technology is directly related to the comprehensive voice of China’s automobile industry chain in the world.
For a long time, international tire giants have firmly controlled the global high-end market by virtue of strict material and formula barriers.
However, with the awakening of China’s tire industry, domestic flagship products represented by Zhongce’s “Chaoyang No. 1”, GM’s “Super Eucommia Tire” and Sailun’s “Liquid Gold Tire” are steadily rising.
They have embarked on differentiated innovation paths with depth and depth from the three dimensions of formula system, innovative materials and manufacturing processes, and jointly promoted the Chinese tire industry to achieve a historic leap from “following in scale” to “leading in technology”.

Based on the bottom line, breaking the century-old performance balance of “wear resistance, safety, low rolling resistance” is the “devil’s triangle” that has plagued the global tire industry for hundreds of years.
In the past, domestic tires mostly fell into the homogeneous involution of “low-price substitution”; now, the three leading brands are based on underlying scientific research and have provided three highly valuable “Chinese solutions” to solve this century-old problem.
As the industry leader, Zhongce’s “Chaoyang No. 1” relies on “BPON hybrid rubber formula” and tire crown adaptive technology to build a performance balance system for all scenarios.
It has made comprehensive breakthroughs in dry and wet braking and quiet comfort, and has successfully won new energy original equipment orders from many global mainstream car companies, demonstrating its profound skills in formula system integration.

GM’s “Super Eucommia Tire” has taken a new approach and is deeply involved in special high-performance bio-based materials.
After more than ten years, the company took the lead in overcoming the barriers to the industrial application of Eucommia gum, known as “plant gold”.
Natural Eucommia gum has excellent anti-fatigue, anti-aging, low heat generation and high wear resistance properties.
Synthetic Eucommia ulmoides with the same composition is also trans-polyisoprene, with basically the same functional properties, and its molecular weight and distribution can be precisely controlled.
Actual measurement data shows that the wear resistance of super Eucommia tires equipped with Eucommia rubber has increased by more than 30% year-on-year, and the life of the front wheels of passenger car tires exceeds 80,000 kilometers.
At the same time, combined with CeliSeal self-healing technology and CeliMute silent cotton and other technologies, it accurately addresses the severe pain points of new energy vehicles such as “large torque, heavy weight, high comfort, and no spare tire”, and opens up a new track for domestic tire material innovation.

After more than ten years of research, Sailun’s “liquid gold tire technology” uses the “liquid phase mixing” process as the core to achieve molecular-level uniform dispersion of rubber and silica.
This process breaks the curse of performance balance from the very beginning of manufacturing, enabling rolling resistance and wet grip to simultaneously reach EU Double-A standards, becoming a benchmark for domestic tire process innovation.
Although the three major brands have different technical paths, they all use underlying innovation to break through the shackles of performance, ending the monopoly of international brands on high-end tire technology and allowing “Intelligent Made in China” to occupy a core seat in the global tire technology landscape.

Competing on the same stage, building the backbone together.
For the entire Chinese tire industry, the competition between Zhongce, General Motors and Sailun is by no means a low-dimensional zero-sum game, but a benign ecology that promotes collaborative upgrading of the industrial chain.
In the domestic high-end segment, the three major brands are gradually dismantling the premium monopoly of foreign brands with measured data that rivals or even surpasses the international front-line.
The more far-reaching significance is that these three major brands have deeply bound technological innovation to the national “double carbon” strategy: Zhongce has established a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing by relying on the “Future Factory”; General Motors has achieved deep emission reductions from source to end through the innovative material substitution and ultra-high wear resistance of “Super Eucommia” throughout its life cycle; and Sailun has reduced carbon emissions in the rubber mixing process through the liquid phase mixing process.
One technology, one material and one art, the coordinated efforts of the three major brands are driving the Chinese tire industry to completely tear off the label of “low-end manufacturing” and build a green industrial cluster with global competitiveness.

Set sail to the sea and connect your intelligence to the world.
With the acceleration of the globalization of China’s intelligent manufacturing, the internationalization of domestic tires has jumped from the early “product trade” to a new stage of “both production capacity and brand overseas”.
The three major brands are accelerating to rewrite the global industrial landscape with their strong technological trump cards.
Zhongce Rubber uses high-end supporting equipment as a breakthrough point to build digital factories in Thailand, Indonesia and other countries, and has won the supporting equipment of the world’s top car companies, achieving a core leap from “aftermarket” to “global supply chain”.
Relying on the agile response advantage of its overseas “dual bases” in Thailand and Cambodia, GM sells high value-added products such as Super Eucommia tires to more than 140 countries and regions around the world.
By launching customized products adapted to road conditions in different regions, GM has established solid brand recognition in Europe, the United States and markets along the “Belt and Road”, becoming a strong newcomer in the internationalization of domestic tires.
Supported by core technologies, Sailun Group has deployed overseas production capacity at a high density in Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, Egypt and other places. Its products are exported to more than 60 countries in Europe and the United States, and the proportion of overseas revenue continues to rise.

Gather efforts towards innovation and reshape the pattern.
Under the dual historical opportunities of the surge in new energy penetration and the reshaping of the global supply chain, China’s tire industry has ushered in a time window for leapfrog development.
Facing the future, I believe that Zhongce, GM and Sailun will continue to be anchored by technological innovation.
Zhongce continues to consolidate its full industry chain and supporting advantages, GM firmly promotes the scenario-based implementation of polymer special materials and the global layout of the “5X strategy”, and Sailun continues to tap into the process potential of chemical rubber refining.
At the same time, the three major brands will compete on the same stage to strengthen each other and continuously broaden the technological boundaries of Chinese tires.
This industrial transformation led by domestic leaders will not only push national brands to steadily move to the center of the global stage, but also redefine the new order of the global tire industry with solid “intelligent manufacturing in China” capabilities!
