In the first five months of this year, Chongqing’s total foreign trade import and export value reached 387.86 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.5%, which is 17.2 percentage points higher than the overall national level.
Among them, automobile exports were 23.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66.4%, leading all major categories; motorcycle exports were 12.21 billion yuan, an increase of 9.8%.
Behind these two sets of data is the systematic transformation of Chongqing’s manufacturing industry from “channel borrowing” to “industrial clusters going overseas”.

In terms of channel cost reduction, “Chongqing’s Several Policies and Measures to Promote Economic Stability and Improvement” clearly supports enterprises in carrying out intermediate goods and bulk raw material transportation through the New Western Land-Sea Corridor and China-Europe trains, and signing “volume and price bundling” agreements with the train operation platform to reduce logistics costs.
The exclusive credit product “Qianli Qingzhou Loan” implemented simultaneously, the annual interest rate is reduced to 3%, and incentives and subsidies are provided for the construction of a thousand-ton green intelligent push fleet and the purchase and reconstruction of ships.
In the first quarter of this year, the number of trains originating from Chongqing on the New Western Land-Sea Corridor has exceeded 400, a year-on-year increase of more than 30%. Among them, chemicals, automobile and motorcycle parts, general machinery and other “Chongqing-made” products have become the main exports.
At the same time, the “Xinjiang Computing into Chongqing” project will introduce Xinjiang’s green computing power into Chongqing, which can reduce the cost of using computing power for enterprises by up to 50%.
As of June 2026, 4 high-speed and low-latency transmission channels have been built, with a computing power scale exceeding 4000P.
Automobile companies such as Changan and Qingling have transferred high-energy-consuming operations such as autonomous driving model training to computing power outside Xinjiang. The model training cycle has been compressed from 30 days to 24 hours, and comprehensive research and development costs have been reduced by more than 50%.
In terms of attracting overseas Chinese to the platform, on June 18, 68 projects were signed at the 2026 Copper Merchants Conference, covering new energy storage, intelligent connected electric vehicles, advanced materials and other tracks.
The conference simultaneously released a list of Tongliang development opportunities with 158 projects with a total investment of 119.3 billion yuan, and a list of key state-owned enterprises in Chongqing with a list of more than 200 projects with a total investment of 38.4 billion yuan, totaling more than 150 billion yuan.
A more significant indicator is conversion rate.
The implementation rate of the projects signed at the 2025 Copper Merchants Conference reached 82%, and 18 projects have been put into operation.
Yan Shu, executive director of the German Sichuan-Chongqing General Chamber of Commerce, said that the chamber of commerce will focus on new energy vehicles and artificial intelligence, and rely on the Overseas Chinese Business Industrial Park to continue to introduce high-quality overseas companies to Sichuan and Chongqing.
Swedish overseas Chinese businessman Liu Shaohui is optimistic that Tongliang’s agricultural products can meet European food safety standards and intends to invest in export processing projects.
At the 10th China Southern Expo, which concluded at the same time, Chongqing organized 11 districts and counties and 16 companies to display more than 100 products such as Wenjie M8 and Zongshen motorcycles. The overall contract value of this China Southern Expo exceeded 27.7 billion yuan.

In terms of actual operations in districts and counties, Tongliang District’s foreign direct investment in 2025 will be US$13.72 million, a year-on-year increase of 194%. A total of 13 foreign investment projects have been registered, mainly in notebook computer supporting fields in Thailand and Vietnam.
Driven by the leader Haichen Energy Storage, the output value of Tongliang’s new energy storage industry will be 17 billion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 70%. It has gathered 12 regulated enterprises and has been rated as a national-level small and medium-sized enterprise characteristic industry cluster.
Haichen Energy Storage’s global shipments will exceed 35GWh in 2025, ranking second in the world, and it has built the world’s first energy storage battery “lighthouse factory”.
Dadukou District is targeting the embodied smart track.
In March 2026, Yushu Technology signed a contract with Dadukou District to jointly build the Western Innovation Operation Center for Embodied Intelligent Robots. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Chongqing Yuyi Technology has completed the registration and the center is now in operation.
Dadukou has built an artificial intelligence standard factory building of 194,600 square meters, a public training base of 15,000 square meters, and a 1000P-level intelligent computing service center, supporting the entire chain of hardware facilities for R&D, pilot testing, production, and testing.
According to the plan, the scale of Dadukou’s intelligent robot industry will exceed 10 billion yuan by 2030.
From the “chain master” agglomeration effect of Tongliang’s energy storage industry to the industrial transformation of Dadukou from “splashing steel” to “mecha parade”, district and county-level data show that the opening up of Chongqing’s manufacturing industry is not a one-way overseas expansion, but an industrial upgrade that simultaneously “brings in” and “goes out”.
