On June 17, 2026, the 7th Qingdao Summit of Multinational Company Leaders concluded successfully in Qingdao, Shandong.
With the theme of “Joining Hands in the 15th Five-Year Plan for a New Future”, this summit attracted 357 Fortune 500 and industry leading companies from 44 countries and regions.
During the summit, a number of activities were held focusing on future industries, expanded opening up of the service industry, and international economic and trade cooperation, and 57 key projects were successfully signed, including 20 foreign investment projects, 9 foreign trade projects, and 15 modern service industry projects.
The expansion of the service industry is one of the key topics of this summit.
The summit invited representatives from the political, business and academic circles to conduct exchanges on policy initiatives, pilot experiences and other aspects, and to jointly explore the development path and direction of the service industry’s wider opening up.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
As the location of the BRICS innovation base, Xiamen, Fujian Province continues to deepen the BRICS economic and trade network, and its economic and trade cooperation with BRICS countries continues to deepen and become more solid.
According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to May this year, Xiamen’s imports and exports to BRICS countries were 87.436 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.98%.
Among them, exports were 28.154 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.93%, and imports were 59.282 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42.3%.
This data fully demonstrates the strong growth trend of trade between Xiamen and BRICS countries, and also reflects Xiamen’s important position in BRICS economic and trade cooperation.
At the same time, my country’s western region has also achieved remarkable results in foreign trade.
According to Chengdu Customs statistics, in the first five months of this year, the import and export of goods trade in 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in western my country amounted to 2.06 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%. It has achieved double-digit growth for six consecutive months, hitting a record high in the same period in history, and contributed 11.7% to the national foreign trade growth in the same period.
Among them, exports were 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%; imports were 759.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%.
The number of enterprises with import and export performance reached 39,000, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%, of which 36,000 were private enterprises.
In the first five months, the western region’s imports and exports to countries co-building the “Belt and Road” were 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, accounting for more than 60% of the total foreign trade import and export value of the western region.
These data fully demonstrate the advantages and vitality of my country’s foreign trade and inject sustained momentum into the high-quality development of the economy.
Whether it is the successful hosting of the Qingdao Summit, the growth of trade between Xiamen and the BRICS countries, or the record high foreign trade in the western region, it all shows that my country is constantly making new breakthroughs and progress in international economic and trade cooperation.
In the future, our country will continue to strengthen trade exchanges with countries around the world, promote high-quality development of foreign trade, and make greater contributions to the prosperity of the global economy.
