On June 17, 2026, the 7th Qingdao Summit of Multinational Company Leaders concluded successfully in Qingdao, Shandong.
With the theme of “Joining Hands in the 15th Five-Year Plan for a New Future”, this summit attracted 357 Fortune 500 and industry leading companies from 44 countries and regions.
During the summit, a number of activities were held focusing on future industries, expanded opening up of the service industry, and international economic and trade cooperation, and the signing of 57 key projects was also facilitated, including 20 foreign investment projects, 9 foreign trade projects, and 15 modern service industry projects.
The expansion of the service industry is a key topic of this summit.
The summit invited representatives from the political, business and academic circles to conduct exchanges on policy initiatives, pilot experiences, etc., and to jointly explore paths and methods for expanding the opening up of the service industry.
This is of great significance for promoting the international development of my country’s service industry and enhancing the status of the service industry in the global industrial chain.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
As the location of the BRICS innovation base, Xiamen, Fujian Province continues to deepen the BRICS economic and trade network, and its economic and trade cooperation with BRICS countries continues to deepen and become more solid.
According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to May this year, Xiamen’s imports and exports to BRICS countries were 87.436 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.98%; of which, exports were 28.154 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.93%, and imports were 59.282 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42.3%.
This data fully demonstrates the strong growth trend of trade between Xiamen and BRICS countries, and also reflects the vitality and potential of the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
At the same time, foreign trade in my country’s western region also shows a good development trend.
According to Chengdu Customs statistics, in the first five months of this year, the import and export of goods trade in 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in western my country amounted to 2.06 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%. It has achieved double-digit growth for six consecutive months, hitting a record high in the same period in history, and contributed 11.7% to the national foreign trade growth in the same period.
Among them, exports were 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%; imports were 759.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%.
The number of enterprises with import and export performance reached 39,000, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%; among them, 36,000 were private enterprises.
In the first five months, the western region’s imports and exports to countries co-building the “Belt and Road” were 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, accounting for more than 60% of the total foreign trade import and export value of the western region.
These data demonstrate the advantages and vitality of China’s foreign trade and inject sustained momentum into the high-quality development of China’s economy.
Whether it is the results of the Qingdao Summit of Multinational Corporation Leaders, the growth of trade between Xiamen and the BRICS countries, and the record high of foreign trade in the western region, it all shows that China is playing an increasingly important role in global trade.
In the future, China will continue to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with countries around the world, promote trade liberalization and economic globalization, and make greater contributions to the development of the world economy.
